If you’re a hotelier based in the UK, chances are you’ve been to London’s Hotelympia exhibition or at least heard of it. As the biggest food service and hospitality event in Britain, it prides itself on giving industry professionals access to the most innovative products on the market and insight into the latest trends in the sector.

This is the revolutionary washing machine manufacturer Xeros’ first time at Hotelympia so we had a chat to the organisers to put together these top five tips for any hospitality professionals attending the show this year between February 29th and March 3rd.

It may be big, but it’s also bespoke

Filling 300,000 square feet of space at London Excel, more than 31,000 visitors from 136 different countries are set to walk through the doors of this year’s event. It might be difficult to get your head around the sheer scale of the exhibition, but the organisers are adamant that despite its size they still deliver the feel of a bespoke and tailored show.

What’s new for 2016?

Hotelympia has been held every years for the last 80 years - and there is always something new and exciting each time it’s put on.

New for 2016 is a unique and impressive Bespoke Equipment Sourcing Scheme that’s been created in partnership with CESA (Catering Equipment Suppliers Association). This scheme enables buyers to match their exact requirements to the exhibitor whose equipment best suits their needs. The buyer will then be able to speak directly and confidentially to manufacturers about everything from technical specifications to energy saving benefits. They will also be able to compare and contrast kit and try before they buy.

Look who’s talking…

Each year, Hotelympia attracts some of most high profile industry thought leaders who take part in engaging panel discussions, and this year is no exception.

With crowdfunding proving to be one of the hottest topics in the hospitality sector at the moment, a dedicated panel including Eric Partaker, co-CEO of Chilango, Fraser Thompson, CEO of Chapel Down and Thomas Davies, Chief Investment Officer, Seedrs, will debate the risks and rewards of raising capital through crowdfunding. This is happening on Monday February 29 at 3pm on The Stage.

Three of this industry’s key buzzwords recently have been discovery, delivery and efficiency and these three topics are set to be discussed in the technology-focused HOSPACE Hub. The hub will welcome a number of key influencers onto its stage including Google UK’s Head of Hospitality, Terri Scriven, who will be talking about how sites can make the most of digital channels.

Hotelympia does virtual reality

Imagine being able to get an exclusive look at the design elements and decor inside some of London’s top hospitality spaces without even visiting them. Well, at Hotelympia 2016 this is going to be possible through the use ground breaking technology that has never been seen before at a hospitality trade show.

Experienced through a virtual reality headset, Virtual Hotelympia is an immersive dome that enables users to view sumptuously designed spaces including the German Gymnasium in King’s Cross, the new M Restaurant site in Victoria and the newly built Hilton Bankside.
